Standard Specification for Titanium and Titanium Alloy Forgings

Fittings manufactured from commercially pure titanium, similar to other alloy grades can be produced in accordance with certain ASTM standards.  Likewise, the ASME SB381 UNS R45400 alloys are to conform to certain requirements with regards to not only their chemistry but also other parameters such as mechanical and testing as well. Titanium like many other alloys can be heat treated. Heat treatment is carried out on the ASTM B381 F2 Socket Weld Cap in order to reduce residual stresses that usually occur during fabrication or what is referred to as a stress Relieving process. Heat treating the Titanium B381-f2 Socketweld Fitting usually leads to an optimum combination of machinability and ductility. Moreover, annealing the B381 F2 Material provides the metal with dimensional structural stability.

Titanium Grade 2 falls under the category of commercially pure metals in the titanium group. Considered to be much better than titanium grade 1 in terms of its tensile properties, their corrosion resistance properties are almost similar. Referred to by its trade name UNS R45400, titanium ASTM B381 Gr F2 Tee exhibits excellent resistance to corrosion as mentioned earlier, in addition to which the alloy has good formability and weldable characteristics. More often than not these characteristics of the ASTM B381 Grade F2 Forgings are deemed important in many critical applications, especially those involving the aerospace industry.

Note 1—H grade material is identical to the corresponding numeric grade (that is, Grade 2H = Grade 2) except for the higher guaranteed minimum UTS, and may always be certified as meeting the requirements of its corresponding numeric grade. Grades 2H, 7H, 16H, and 26H are intended primarily for pressure vessel use.
